  • What's the difference between a coach and a therapist?
Therapists help patients to heal wounds of the past. An effective coach supports clients to seize the present day, co-construct a carefully thought out timeline and action-focused agenda to achieve their goals and increase their capacity, and then guides them each step of the way. In addition to being a graduate of a rigorous, year-long coach training program, Dr. Michael holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from NYU. However, he prefers to operate in a coaching modality in order to support clients across the globe and in a more hands-on manner. Because of his years of training and experience in various clinical/therapeutic settings, coaching clients often report feeling increased levels of confidentiality and support when processing issues from the past and sharing sensitive topics as part of the work to move closer to achieving their goals. *Please note that all inquiries on this site are for coaching, not therapy*
  • How do I know that coaching is for me?
Are you ready for a change? Do you feel that you’re not quite living up to your full potential? Are you unsatisfied with a life that is “just fine” and ready for something more? Thinking of changing your career direction or going back to school? Putting off writing that screenplay or book? Feeling ready to prioritize your love life, or getting serious about reaching your fitness goals? Itching to master a new hobby? Would some structure, support, and guidance be valuable in achieving your goals? If you answered yes to any of the above, then coaching is for you.
  • Where and how are sessions conducted?
Anywhere in the world! Well, anywhere that has phone service or WiFi. In order to make his services accessible to people in any corner of the globe, all sessions are conducted either by phone or via Zoom or FaceTime. Clients who are juggling busy schedules often report that the phone/video session format is their favorite part of the process because they get to experience a real-time connection with Dr. Michael, yet they don’t have to worry about a time-consuming commute.
  • What if I want to change my life but I’m not quite sure what I want?
That’s completely normal! In fact, it’s one of Dr. Michael’s specialties. Clients often enjoy the process of exploring their desires and imagining their lives in different, radically-improved ways during the first few sessions. Often, it doesn’t take long before goals are established and an action plan is set in motion. In some cases, with regard to feeling “stuck” about career direction, we will partner with Masters and Ph.D. level psychologists to connect clients to career aptitude testing and assessment services, when needed.
  • How do session packages work?
We like to keep things nice and simple. Every month, each client engages in 4 sessions with Dr. Michael. Each session is 45 minutes in length, with a perfect balance of some structure and some room to discuss what's currently on the client's mind. In addition to sessions, clients will receive text and/or email check-ins throughout the week, as needed. (Clients love these accountability check-ins.) Reviewing relevant documents, email drafts, resumes, cover letters, dating website profiles, personal calendars, fitness logs, and other necessary support is all included.
  • Why should I choose Dr. Michael?
One would be hard-pressed to find a more qualified, enthusiastic, dedicated coach. His highest priorities are his clients and their ambitions. There is no need to oversell Dr. Michael’s value – his clients’ testimonies speak for themselves. (See Reviews tab for testimonies.)
